Designed and engineered 100% by Volkswagen, the new Crafter is available with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission as an option for the first time.
Developed in collaboration with our diverse customer group and packed with cutting-edge safety technology, the result is an award-winning van with a number of class leading features. The new Crafter with TD410 engine is available in either the optional ZF 8-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual transmission with two wheelbases and three roof heights to choose from.
The new Crafter delivers exceptional design, flexibility and functionality, making for a van worthy of its accolades.
Using a radar sensor, Front Assist detects a possible collision with the vehicle in front. It will warn you and prepare the car for braking. If nothing changes, it applies the braking giving you a better chance of avoiding or minimising a collision. When you’re travelling below 30km/h, City Emergency Braking will prepare the braking if a collision is likely. If the driver doesn’t brake, the system will do it automatically.
This standard potentially life-saving system continually evaluates steering movements and other independent signals, and if fatigue is detected, warns the driver with an alarm, and recommends the driver take a break on the Multi-Function display.
When two independent sensors detect a collision, this state-of-the-art system applies the brakes to slow down the vehicle so that a secondary impact will be lessened or avoided. During braking, the hazard and brake lights are illuminated and remain activated. The driver can take over at any time.
This intelligent standard feature allows you to make a hill start without the vehicle rolling back. If you’re on an incline greater than 5 per cent, the system will hold your car stationary for 1.5 seconds after the foot brake is released by temporarily locking the brake pressure.
Crosswind is a standard sub-function of the Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) that helps dealing with high crosswinds by automatically activating the brakes if needed and keeping you in the lane.
The Crafter now features front side and curtain airbags2 for driver and front passenger as standard giving you the optimal protection in the event of head-on or side impacts.
Park Assist works alongside parking sensors and a rear-view camera, providing you with audio and visual aids to help achieve the perfect park.
Whether reversing out of a busy parking lot or trying to squeeze into a tricky spot, an extra set of eyes is always handy. The Rear-View Camera displays a live picture on your screen that shows what’s behind you and static guidance lines, which all come together to make reversing safer and easier.
The optional Park Assist handles multi-step parking into parallel parking spaces. When the reverse gear is engaged, the vehicle automatically assumes control of the steering. All the driver has to do is operate the accelerator and the brake. Forms part of the optional 'Driver Assistance Package 3'.
The optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system lets you set your speed and the gap you want between you and the car in front. The new Crafter then maintains the speed and distance. Making life easier - particularly on long days on the road - and reducing the risk of exceeding the speed limit - and unwanted speeding fines.
Using a camera to monitor the markings on the road ahead, the optional Lane Assist works to prevent you leaving your lane unintentionally. If you start to leave your lane without indicating, the system takes corrective steering action. If you still don’t respond a message will appear in the Multi-Function Display in conjunction with a warning tone. Forms part of the optional 'Driver Assistance Package 2'.
Using sensors, this genius feature informs you with illuminated symbols on each of your mirrors when there’s a vehicle in your blind spot. Forms part of the optional 'Driver Assistance Package 2'.
The sensor-based Side Assist monitors the vehicle sides and emits visual and audible
warnings if coming hazardously close to pillars, walls or pedestrians. Forms part of the optional 'Driver Assistance Package 2'.
This optional system provides an audible warning when reversing out of parking spaces if another vehicle is getting too close. In case the driver fails to react, then the system can minimise the consequences of a possible accident and, in the best case scenario, prevent an accident, through braking intervention. Forms part of the optional 'Driver Assistance Package 2'.
